CCC Statement: Regarding the Elimination of Finger-Imaging for Food Stamp Applicants

CCC applauds Governor Cuomo’s decision to eliminate the finger-imaging requirement for Food Stamp applicants. The finger-imaging requirement has long deterred thousands upon thousands of potentially eligible applicants from applying for Food Stamps. Further, this practice harmed New York’s economy, keeping millions of federal Food Stamp dollars from entering our local supermarkets, corner stores, and farmers’ markets. Through the elimination of finger-imaging for Food Stamp applicants, Governor Cuomo has made the right choice for New York’s children and families, and our State’s economy.
