Advocates Call For In-Classroom BreakfastReleased February 10, 2015The following is a statement by CCC Executive Director Jennifer March that was included in press release titled: Advocates & Elected Officials Respond to New National Report Finding NYC Schools Already Poor Participation in School Meals Has Gotten Even Worse — Jennifer March, Executive Director of Citizens’ Committee for Children said, “We are extremely disappointed to see that not only has NYC failed to increase school breakfast participation rates, but fewer school children benefited from breakfast in school last year. We know the solution is breakfast in the classroom (or breakfast after the bell) because it has been successful elsewhere. We urge the de Blasio administration to follow the leads of other large districts like Boston, Newark and LA- and implement universal breakfast after the bell here in New York City.” To read the full press release visit the NYC Coalition Against Hunger web site at: http://nyccah.org/node/1749
