May is Mental Health Awareness Month! CCC’s YouthAction Program wants to make sure that all New Yorkers know how to identify and seek treatment for youth’s mental health needs. To do this, CCC Youth Advocates hosted a panel and released a Public Service Announcement.
CCC’s YouthAction Members (YAMs) released the Public Service Announcement they created to encourage their peers to seek help if they are experiencing warning signs of a mental health issue and to provide helpful information on how to access help. The PSA, which points out that 1 in 5 youth suffers from a diagnosable mental disorder, urges teens and parents not to ignore warning signs and offers suggestions about where teens can find mental health resources at school, online, and in their communities.
At this event, the youth facilitated a panel discussion with NYC experts about mental health needs and services for NYC teens and the YouthAction Members officially released their Public Service Announcement.
