The keynote speaker for CCC’s 2012 Polier Symposium was Chief Justice Jonathan Lippman, who spoke about his vision for raising the age of criminality in New York. The Chief Judge spoke of a juvenile justice system being more responsive and how that vision honored the spirit of Justine Wise Polier, a CCC founder, who worked tirelessly to pursue justice.
The Chief Judge’s Remarks focused on adolescent brain development and how the adult criminal justice system was not developed to meet the needs of 16 and 17-year olds.
