We believe that the most effective advocates are armed with data, facts and first-hand information about programs for children and youth—so Citizens’ Committee for Children offers child advocacy courses for both adults and youth. We value community education and believe that it is through sharing the facts with as many New Yorkers as possible that we will ultimately succeed in ensuring every New York child is healthy, housed, educated and safe.
The Community Leadership Course
The Community Leadership Course is a 10-week course for adults offered every fall. Course participants spend one day each week immersing themselves in different children’s issues, including child poverty, child welfare, education, and juvenile justice.

YouthAction NYC
YouthAction NYC is an after-school program for high school students. The Youth Community Leadership Course (YCLC) is offered in the fall and spring on Monday afternoons, and teaches youth how to engage in fact-based advocacy. YCLC graduates are then able to become Youth Action Members (YAMs) and Peer Trainers.
