Testimony: Bills to Support Parents and Caregivers

CCC testified before the New York City Council Committees on Women and Governmental Operations on June 19, 2018.
The introduction of the “Mother’s Day Package” of bills is a testament to the City Council’s ongoing commitment to improving supports for parents and caregivers, and for ensuring positive health outcomes for moms and babies. Basic necessities like access to diapers, child care, and lactation support – all championed in today’s bills – are essential for helping working parents and caregivers support their families. As the Council considers these bills, we also urge continued work to address the systemic challenges that lead to persistent health and economic disparities among low-income families and communities of color in our city. CCC strongly supports the goals and intent of all six bills introduced.
