The City Council and the Mayor negotiated a $78.5 billion Adopted Budget for City Fiscal Year 2016 that invests in critical programs and services that will make New York City a better place to be a child.

Notably, the City Council added funding to prevent the closure of 16 child care centers and 3,400 after-school slots; to maintain mental health services for children under 5; to create a trauma-informed program for children in homeless shelters; and to expand the Summer Youth Employment Program to reach 50,000 children.
