CCC Testimony: Intro 1254-2016 Expanding College Savings Plan Materials

On January 19, 2017, CCC submitted testimony to the City Council Education Committee in support of Intro 1254-2016. This bill would expand the distribution of college savings plan material to children in pre-kindergarten and to parents and guardians at the time when they receive their child’s birth certificate.
This additional information distribution will help ensure that families are aware of the opportunity and benefits of saving funds in 529 college savings plans. This legislation expands the material distribution, currently for children in K-12, to when children are even younger: prekindergarten and birth.
