CCC Annual Report: 2011-2012

In 2011-2012, CCC continued to leverage the expertise of staff and the enthusiasm of citizens to secure critical policy and budgetary victories on behalf of New York’s children.

When the city threatened to cut 47,000 child care and after-school seats, CCC helped form the Campaign for Children, which secured $150 million in restorations. On the state level, CCC’s advocacy helped to establish the Close to Home Initiative, which will ensure New York City’s youth in need of limited secure or non-secure placements will be placed in their communities, which will enable increased contact with their families and attorneys, improved access to services and their school credits will more seamlessly transfer when they return home.

We produced numerous products, sharing the information we learned broadly. These included infographics on the new census data and a report on the School Breakfast Program. Our e-online advocacy and social media networks now number over 12,000 and our policy expertise informed over 150 news articles. We reached over 900 New Yorkers through our policy briefings and our Polier Symposium, featuring Chief Judge Lippman’s remarks on raising the age of criminal responsibility.

Our 2011-2012 Celebration Breakfast and CCC Celebrates at MoMA events and the support of individuals, corporations and foundations made all of CCC’s budget and policy work possible.
