2019-2020 Annual Report

Seventy-five years ago, CCC was created with a radical vision that all children had fundamental human rights to be healthy, housed, educated and safe. This unique approach was grounded in the belief that effective advocacy must be fact-based and achieved through civic engagement and community mobilization. While we have seen progress on many fronts, today we find ourselves at the intersection of unprecedented public health and economic crises that expose persistent social injustice and racial inequality.

COVID-19 has impacted the lives of all New Yorkers, and its ramifications are felt now and will be felt most in our city’s Black and Latinx communities for years to come. As a result, children are experiencing unparalleled levels of trauma in the hardest hit communities. While the magnitude of challenges New York City faces can feel overwhelming, we’re finding hope in the power of advocacy.

Throughout the year, we created a constant drumbeat of information that drove the public dialogue and influenced decisions made at the City, State and Federal level as New Yorkers faced unprecedented crises in public health and the economy. Thanks to these efforts, we’ve been successful in protecting and preserving vital services that children and families are relying on now more than ever.
