January 9, 2013 The NYC Coalition of Family Court Advocates is Back! This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the New York State Family Courts. This provides us with an incredible opportunity to reflect on both our accomplishments and the steps needed to better help children and families for the next 50 years. In this spirit, CCC reconvened the NYC Coalition of Family Court Advocates so that we could develop strategic advocacy plans for the upcoming State Legislative Session. Justice delayed is justice denied for children. The New York Family Courts are so overwhelmed that decisions about where children will live, when they will get to see their parents, and whether they need to be in secure facilities often get delayed. To date, stakeholders from 15 organizations have joined the coalition to fight for more Family Court Judges and have Family Court funding cuts restored. Stay tuned in the coming months as we take our fight to Albany! We’ll be meeting with elected officials, issuing media advisories, sharing facts and stories, and looking to you to help us bring this message loud and clear to Albany. What can you do today?
