August 13, 2013 Thank You to CCC’s Summer InternsSummer interns Allan Raykhelson and Tanjila Rahman (center) join staff from the New York City Coalition Against Hunger to do Summer Meals outreach at the Bronx River Pool. Each summer, CCC employs two YouthAction high school students to be summer interns. We are extremely thankful for all of the hard work that they have done this summer. One of their main responsibilities is to be social media managers, maintaining YouthAction’s presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. Interns share articles, write blog posts, and help keep YouthAction’s social media audience informed about local issues that affect youth. Interns are also responsible for putting together YouthAction’s annual newsletter, which is a look back at all of the three YouthAction Programs’ accomplishments over the previous year. In addition, summer interns have opportunities to do advocacy with CCC and our partners. This summer, YouthAction Interns did community outreach in the South Bronx to raise awareness about New York City’s Summer Meals Program. Read their blog post to learn more about their experience as volunteers with the Summer Meals Coalition. YouthAction NYC is CCC’s after school program that teaches New York City high school students to be effective advocates in their schools and communities. | Comments |
