CCC Takes Our Priorities to Albany

CCC staff and volunteers are making our voices heard in Albany today.  We are meeting with 20 legislators and their staff to share our budget and policy priorities for children.  

In mid-January, Governor Cuomo released his Executive Budget proposals and the Legislature now has an April 1^st deadline to negotiate a final budget for State Fiscal Year 2014-2015, which starts on April 1^st.

We are telling our state leaders that it is critical for them to approve a budget that:

• Approves the Judiciary budget and adds 20 new Family Court Judges statewide;
• Approves the City’s plan to expand full-day pre-k to all 4- year olds and after-school to all middle school children through a moderate, temporary income tax increase on the wealthiest New Yorkers;
• Adds funding for State Education Aid;
• Restores funding for child protective and preventive services.
• Increases funding for emergency food programs, runaway and homeless youth, sexually exploited youth, Summer Youth Employment and child care.
• Approves the Governor’s proposal to provide funding to help foster care agencies in the transition of foster children to Medicaid Managed Care.
