Bijan Kimiagar, Ph.D.
Associate Executive Director for Research
bkimiagar@cccnewyork.org
Bijan Kimiagar leads the research and data analysis unit, which produces data driven reports, maintains the Keeping Track of New York City’s Children database, and conducts community-based assessment projects to better understand both welcomed and worrisome neighborhood level trends. These projects complement the Keeping Track data and elevate the voices of community members, service providers, and other experts, especially when public data are lacking. Bijan brings to CCC an expertise in designing participatory research projects with children, youth, and their caregivers, which he developed while working as a project director with the Children’s Environments Research Group for many years. His research experience covers multiple child and family policy topics, including children’s rights, gender equality, children’s participation in local governance, neighborhood safety, housing, sustainable development, and preventing commercial sexual exploitation of children. And through partnerships with child-centered community development agencies, Bijan has conducted research in New York City, as well as throughout Europe, Latin America, West and North Africa, and South Asia. He holds a Ph.D. in environmental psychology from the CUNY Graduate Center and a B.A. in psychology from UCLA.
